This Week’s Prayer

15 Mar

God we pray more than anything to truly encounter You. May Your grace sustain us. May we be encouraged by the kind words of brothers and sisters. May the story of scripture guide us on our path towards redemption and salvation. Speak to us through the patterns that emerge on this journey. We have so much to learn and so much room for growth. We pray this in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

I was reflecting on Jesus’ first miracle turning water into wine. A commentary I read said Mary may not have been requesting a miracle but instaed wanted Jesus to fix the situation somehow as the man of her family unit. The comment she made I had always thought of as a mother encouraging her son to use his gifts, being the Messiah and showing his status as such. This gives me a great deal to think about and brings the miracle out more as the most awsome answer to a mother’s request. She may have just wanted him to go find some wine or settle things with words.
